What comes in three, loves to sing and is full of beans?! It’s THE BEANIES!!! The fabulous trio made up of Mim, Michael and Laura Beanie have popped out of their award-winning Kinderling Podcast and onto the stage of the PACT theatre this weekend.
Kicking off the school holidays as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival 2018, The Beanies took us on a hilarious adventure as they find themselves unexpectedly tasked with caring for Eggbert the Egg. Backed by the lyrical genius of the Musical Wizard, from the moment we stepped into the world of The Beanies it was hard to take the smiles off our faces.
The brightly dressed trio made us laugh from the start, quickly embracing us in their hour-long challenge to keep Eggbert safe and warm set by Professor Know-It-All. Egg-shibiting their varied approaches to parenthood, eliciting nods of empathy from the assembled keepers of offspring, Michael, Laura and Mim Beanie got a crash course in nesting, lullabies and baby proofing.
Punctuated with fun and catchy musical numbers from The Silly Dizzy Dance to Saturday Morning Cuddles and more, The Beanies most important task in their guardianship of Eggbert is not to lose him. But are rumbling tummies, popcorn and sneaky robbers too much for the trio to contend with? Watch as Laura, Mim and Michael Beanie get clued in on what it really means to play Mum and Dad, it’s not as ‘eggs over easy’ as they first thought!
With their purpose to bring delight and oodles of happy to their audience, within the intimate Indie setting of the PACT venue they more than achieve it. Encouraging their fan base of Mini Beanies, seated at their heroes’ feet, and the assembled big people to get involved throughout the show; The Beanies have created a piece of musical theatre so wonderfully immersive you will feel your spirits lifted like never before.
Children stood to mimic their dance moves, raucous laughter resounded through the adult contingent and even babies silenced their wails in response to the captivating activity happening around them.
With their roots firmly in the business of entertaining, The Beanies are a breath of fresh air and confetti in the arena of children’s entertainment and my trio and I cannot wait to see them in action again! But for now we’re tuning into The Beanies Imagination Station podcast on Kinderling Kid’s Radio.
