Maya the Bee 3: The Golden Orb in cinemas Jan 2021

In pretty special news (to me at least) as the first Maya the Bee movie was also the first movie premiere we attended… back in 2014 when there was only one little Hine… the yellow carpet is rolling out for a third time to welcome back Maya and her cast of critters in Maya the Bee: The Golden Orb.

Buzzing into cinemas from 7 January 2021, this latest adventure once again features the voices of Playschool Alum Justine Clarke, The Umbilical Brothers, Coco Jack Gillies and Benson Jack Anthony.

The second theatrical instalment of Maya The Bee: The Honey Games was released in July 2018 and was shown in cinemas in over 130 countries. It was also the most successful German animated film at the international box office in 2018.

Did you know: Maya the Bee is based on a German children’s novel which was published in 1912!

So what are Maya, Willy and the colony up to this time…

When Maya and Willy bust out of winter lockdown early, they are catapulted headfirst into a top-secret mission!  Entrusted with the care of a sacred orb, Maya and Willy team up with their old pals, Arnie and Barney, to deliver it to its new home atop the mysterious Bonsai Peak.

But when their "orb" hatches, Maya and Willy come face to face with their biggest responsibility yet - a smooshy, squishy little princess!  This adventure is a LOT more than they bargained for as they must work together to take on bounty hunters and traverse treacherous terrain to return the lost princess to her mountain colony, only to find it hanging in the balance of a turf war.

Willy discovers a side of himself that he never expected as he becomes protective of the tiny princess.  But to save her and her colony, Maya and Willy must convince the battling insect tribes to work together in order to survive a hungry bird attack!
